Pocket Lab privacy policy
Updated 19 October 2026. This policy describes Pocket Lab for iPhone, provided by Skarveo, and information you choose to send us for support.
Narration stays on your iPhone
Pocket Lab prepares narration on your device. Books and generated audio are not uploaded to a narration service. You do not need a Pocket Lab account. The app has no advertising, tracking or automatic analytics uploads.
Information stored on your device
The app keeps local copies of imported EPUBs, extracted text, covers, reading positions, Reading or Finished status, Bedtime bookmarks and preferences. Generated narration is stored in a local cache; older audio is removed as the cache fills.
Your library and preferences may be included in iPhone backups, depending on your system settings. Generated audio and current listening diagnostics are excluded from backups. Earlier versions may have included diagnostics in backups. Pocket Lab does not provide its own cloud library sync.
Listening diagnostics
Local records help investigate playback problems. They include event times, book identifiers, reading positions, generation and playback timings, buffering, battery and temperature information, and whether the app was in the background. They do not contain book text, titles, authors or generated audio.
Identifiers and timestamps can reveal reading activity, so these records are not anonymous. They are kept for up to seven days, with a 5 MB limit. Older records are removed when the app next opens, records an event or prepares a share file. They are not uploaded automatically.
Share listening diagnostics creates a temporary copy and opens the system share sheet. You choose whether and where to send it. The app removes its temporary copy when the share sheet closes, the next export is prepared, diagnostics are deleted, or the app next starts. A recipient or service may keep a separate copy.
Your choices and deletion
- Delete a book in the library to remove its imported copy, saved progress, Bedtime bookmark and audio. The original file in Files is kept.
- Clear saved audio in Listening details to remove narration while keeping the book and your place.
- Delete diagnostics in Settings or Listening details to remove local listening records and temporary share files. Playback can continue, and new activity can create new records. Deleting a book does not remove its earlier diagnostic records.
- Deleting the app removes local app data. Offloading the app keeps documents and data. Backups, original EPUBs and copies you shared are managed separately through the relevant service or device settings.
System features and external services
Files may download an EPUB from iCloud Drive or another file provider before import. Book and chapter details appear in the system’s Now Playing controls. The app’s documents are accessible through supported system file-sharing features. Your selected file, email, backup or sharing provider handles information under its own terms and privacy practices.
Visiting skarveo.com or sending email uses internet services separately from offline narration. Our website hosting and email providers process the connection and message information needed to deliver those services. These pages do not send your Pocket Lab library or listening history to the website.
Contacting support
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond to your request and investigate the problem. Please share only what is necessary; sending diagnostics is optional.
Support correspondence is kept while needed to handle your request and related follow-up. The seven-day limit for local diagnostics does not apply to email copies. You can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have sent. Information stored only inside the app is managed using the controls above; Skarveo cannot remotely access or delete your local library.
